About Us
Service Mandate & History
Since 1984, Lake of the Woods Employment Action Project, Inc (LEAP) has been assisting people to find jobs. LEAP is a non-profit community service which provides employment counselling, support and on the job training to residents looking for work.
Mission Statement
LEAP’s mission is to provide employment counselling, job and educational placement, assistance with access to community services and follow up services to persons who are unemployed, out of school and training in the Kenora and surrounding area. Our mission is to address factors that contribute to unemployment among youth and adults from the Kenora and surrounding area.
Funding
We are a non profit incorporated centre funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
Accountability
LEAP has been incorporated since October 1994 and is answerable to a Board of Directors, comprised of members from education, service, fund-raising, youth, business and labour sectors of the community. The Board of Directors meet on a monthly basis to receive a report on activities and provide guidance to the Executive Director on governance issues.
LEAP also submits quarterly reports to the Ministry of Training, College and Universities on activity at the centre.
