Purchaser, Inventory and Fleet Coordinator

Duties:

Under limited supervision and direction, perform technical duties, sometimes difficult and complex related to the purchasing of services, supplies, materials, and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines.  Supervise and manage company vehicle fleet, tools and equipment within approved guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Inventory:

  • Purchasing materials for inventory and non-stock items for customer orders, warehouse, and vehicles;
  • Supply field employees with van/project re-stocking on daily basis
  • Set-up, supervise, and manage purchase order system
  • Make sure orders are placed and confirm ship/delivery dates;
  • Resolving shipping, delivery, and purchase order errors as required;
  • Investigate and determine what/how/why material was received incorrectly or damaged;
  • Filing purchase orders, delivery receipts, invoices, return/credit slips, etc.;
  • Assist with inventory control including tool consumables and fleet vehicle maintenance;
  • Reviewing reports for stock outs and expediting open orders;
  • Monitoring price changes and communicating changes as necessary.

Vehicles & Equipment:

  • Responsible for co-ordinating vehicle repairs at local mechanics shop and re-stocking as needed on a daily/weekly basis based on field staff wants and needs.
  • Maintain a complete inventory system through recording of all events related to each vehicle, equipment, and tools – repairs, parts, etc.;
  • Assists in the development of fleet and equipment budgets;
  • Develops, maintains and manages fleet and equipment assignment/use log.
  • General Maintenance of shop area and warehouse area being kept clean and organized.
  • Oher duties may be assigned on an as needed basis.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required;
  • 2 – 3 years purchasing experience in related trade or industry;
  • Knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, and techniques;
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the residential, commercial & industrial electrical trade;
  • Knowledge of the vehicles, equipment, and tools of the electrical trade;
  • Knowledge of the material requirements of work projects assigned;
  • Skill in both verbal and written communication;
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to lift heavy and or awkward objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills are essential

Working Conditions:

The purchaser works typically starts at 6:30 am and finishes at 4:00 pm with a ½ hour unpaid lunch and works from the warehouse located at the main office and spends considerable time in the warehouse and storage facilities.  From time to time it will be necessary to visit customer job sites to deliver material requested by field staff, supplier premises for weekly pickups, and service provider facilities.  Purchaser, inventory & fleet coordinator experiences a wide range of environments – both indoors and out.  The purchaser will be required to receive and ship electrical and generator supplies, parts, and materials.
