Duties:

The CACC Supervisor provides supportive operational leadership, coaching, direction, immediate feedback, training, and technical advice to Medical Communications Officers (MCOs).

 

The supervisor takes the lead with the reception of 911, emergency and nonemergency requests for fire and/or ambulance emergency service, oversees the required level of response and supports seamless dispatching services using the resources provided by emergency service operators.  The Supervisor directs timely and accurate telecommunications services to callers, service providers and other emergency services system stakeholders.  The supervisor also provides call taking and dispatching telecommunication services for public safety services as required.

Qualifications:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent
  • First Aid certification with demonstrated ongoing competence through re-certification
  • Current certification in BCLS with demonstrated ongoing competence through annual re-certification
  • Successful completion of the EHS delivered Entry to Practice Ambulance Communications Officer Training Program and locally delivered Medical Communications Officer training and mentoring program as approved by the Director
  • Fully qualified as EMD and required MPDS programs including completion or ability to complete EMDQ
  • Successful completion of all available stages of the Leadership and Development Essentials for CACC/ACS Supervisors or equivalent
  • ARIS II Administration Supervisor Training
  • Demonstrated supervisory/leadership skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimum of five years’ experience as an MCO and minimum 2 years as Supervisor and/or acting position of the same or equivalent
  • Ability to work in an inherently stressful 24/7 environment
  • Reliable attendance record
