Solid Construction Inc. is a well-established and respected General Contracting company based in Kenora, proudly serving Northwestern Ontario since 2003. We are currently seeking motivated, dependable, and hard-working skilled Labourers to join our growing team.
The successful candidate will have experience in residential and commercial construction and be capable of performing a wide variety of construction and carpentry- related tasks in a safe and efficient manner. We are looking for individuals with strong work ethic, reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects throughout NOW while gaining experience in multiple areas of the construction industry.
Duties:
- Assist with residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects from start to finish
- Perform general carpentry tasks including framing, forming, installation, finishing, and repairs
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install construction materials according to project specifications
- Construct and install walls, floors, roofs, door frames, windows, cabinets, trim, and other structural components
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and efficiently
- Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials and equipment on site
- Assist with concrete work, excavation, and general labour duties as required
- Read and follow drawings, instructions, and site directions from supervisors and project managers
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas at all times
- Work collaboratively with crew members, subcontractors, and supervisors to meet project timelines
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OHSA regulations
- Travel to varying job sites throughout the NOW region as required
- Represent Solid Construction Inc. professionally on all job sites and while interacting with clients and the public
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project completion and company operations
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction, carpentry, or skilled labour
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic construction equipment safely and effectively
- Understanding of construction site safety practices and procedures
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to and form work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team environment
- Physically capable of lifting heavy materials, repetitive movement, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, reliability, and positive attitude
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks efficiently and safely
- Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and experienced crew members
- Flexible availability, including occasional overtime, out of town, or weekend work during peak construction periods
- Experience operating skid steers, telehandlers, compact equipment, or other construction equipment considered an asset
- WHIMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid, or other construction safety certifications considered an asset
- Ability to maintain professionalism and respectful communication with coworkers, subcontractors, and clients
