Wage: $30.00 per hour ($58,500.00 per year)
Reporting to the Director, the Resource Advisor co-ordinates the resource area services to LEAP clients and the general public. Working 37.5 hours per week, with an Employer paid Health Benefit Package and RRSP Plan, 3 weeks’ vacation, and 15 sick days, the successful candidate will possess:
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists individuals with orientation to the resource area
- Determines eligibility for Programming and refers to Employment Advisor for intake and assessment
- Helps the public using the resource area determine what they are interested in and how to access the services
- Retrieves information on employment and training opportunities and provides this information to clients and staff
- Posts job ads and updates all ads through employer calls and passes information about unfilled positions to employment advisors and job developer
- Daily updating of jobs on the boards and website
- Ensures all job postings are up to date and current. Ensures there is an even distribution of job postings between Resource advisor, Job Developer and Job Coach (tentative)
- Updates educational and other resources
- Updates and researches various bulletin boards
- Ensures, that resource area is covered when necessary
- Co-ordinates, plans, delivers and evaluates R&I (resume, cover letter, WHMIS, etc.) and other agency workshops based on demand
- Researches and replenishes tip sheets and brochures (both program and community)
- Determines, using decision model, appropriate R&I candidates and services vs. who would be best served as an unassisted client
- Assists with the information gathering and posting of summer jobs prior to student start date
- Troubleshoot fax, photocopier and telephone issues and maintenance
- Case conferences with other staff on a weekly basis, both in staff meetings and on a one-to-one level
- Reports weekly to staff and monthly to the Executive Director on resource center activity and brings to attention any difficulty or potential problem cases
- Keeps statistics for resource area activity and submits report weekly to staff and monthly to the Executive Director
- Is responsible for meeting monthly intake recruitment numbers
- Conducts employer exit surveys and other questionnaires for job postings
- Assists with the training of new staff
- Collects other client statistics as required
- Participates in operational and strategic planning and in-house training sessions
- Website maintenance – updating jobs
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation as per SERCO and agency standards
- Assist individuals with their employment needs, including resume preparation and job search assistance
- Assist other staff with workshops and networking outside of the office
- Schedule client appointments and intakes
- Complete CAT with clients as needed and if Employment Advisors are not available
- Update notes in ESCases based on client interaction in the R&I area
- Reports directly to Executive Director or Program Coordinator
- Facilitates VR program during workshops and out in the community
- Completes Outcome follow ups as needed and inputs information into ESCases, reports to Program Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- High School Diploma and administrative experience is preferred
- Flexibility, sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of the labour market, private and public trainers and colleges/universities throughout the province
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with sensitivity
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment, as well as the ability to manage and meet standards and deliverables as set by the funder Serco and the agency
- Versatility to adapt to a wide variety of situations within the job
- Proficiency in Word, Google Docs and similar computer programs
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle preferred
- An understanding of the employment needs, issues and opportunities within our community
- Regular hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. A rotating Wednesday shift of 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. is required.
