Solid Construction Inc. is a well-established and respected General Contracting company based in Kenora, proudly serving Northwestern Ontario since 2003. We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Carpenters to join our growing team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in residential, commercial, and industrial construction with the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and professionalism. We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work, demonstrate leadership on job sites, and contribute positively to a team environment.

Duties:

  • Perform a wide variety of carpentry tasks including framing, forming, finishing, renovations, and general construction work
  • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and project plans accurately
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install building materials according to project requirements
  • Construct walls, floors, roofs, foundations, concrete forms, door frames, and other structural components
  • Install windows, doors, trim, cabinetry, moldings, siding, and finishing materials with precision and attention to detail
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with supervisors, projects managers, subcontractors, and other crew members
  • Ensure projects and completed efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship and project timelines
  • Troubleshoot construction issues and provide tactical solutions on site as needed
  • Mentor apprentices, labourers, and junior crew members when required
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments at all times
  • Perform routine maintenance and proper care of tools and equipment
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OHSA regulations
  • Travel to various job sites throughout NWO as required
  • Represent Solid Construction Inc. professionally while interacting with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and the public
  • Perform additional carpentry or construction-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Carpenter in residential, commercial, or industrial construction
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools, and building practices
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and job specifications
  • Experience with framing, finishing, concrete forming, and general carpentry work
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Valid drivers licence and reliable transportation to and from varying job sites
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Physically capable of lifting heavy materials, climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
  • Safety certifications such as WHIMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid, or other
  • construction safety certifications considered an asset
  • Apprenticeship certification or Red Seal designation considered a strong asset
  • Flexible availability, including occasional overtime, out of town work, and occasional weekend work during peak construction periods
