Lake of the Woods Business Incentive Corporation (LOWBIC) is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Community Development & Business Services Intern to support strategic economic development initiatives that strengthen regional business growth, workforce attraction and retention, community engagement, and awareness of services. This position offers hands-on experience in economic development, business outreach, communications, project coordination, and community engagement while working with businesses, stakeholders, and community partners.
Duties:
The successful candidate will support projects and initiatives related to:
- Development and coordination of a Young Professionals Network
- Local business outreach and promotion for major events including the Royal Winter
- Fair and Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada Convention
- Social media, marketing, and communications initiatives
- Basic Business succession planning outreach and support
- Research, stakeholder engagement, and general economic development activities
- Administrative and project coordination support
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will demonstrate:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Organizational and project coordination abilities
- Experience or interest in economic development, business, marketing, communications, or community development
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
- Strong research and writing skills
- Post-secondary education in a related field is considered an asset
