Animakee Wa Zhing #37 First Nation is seeking a dynamic and culturally grounded Community Well-Being Director to provide strategic leadership for community-based services that support children, youth, families, and community members. Reporting to the General Manager, this position leads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of prevention-focused programs rooted in Anishinaabe values and community wellness.

Duties:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for a continuum of community well-being services that support children, youth, families, and community members
- Provide leadership for culturally grounded community wellbeing programs
- Build strong relationships with Chief and Council, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, staff, and community partners
- Ensure services reflect Anishinaabe values, traditions, and community priorities
- Promote prevention, family preservation, and community wellness
- Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of community well-being programs
- Oversee intake, prevention, family supports, and community-based services
- Monitor program outcomes and ensure quality service delivery
- Identify emerging community needs and support program development
- Ensure compliance with legislation, funding agreements, and organizational policies
- Support policy development and continuous improvement
- Represent the organization with government, service providers, and community partners
- Promote culturally safe, strengths-based, and trauma informed practices
- Develop and manage program budgets
- Monitor expenditures and funding agreements
- Prepare financial and program reports
- Support funding proposals and long-term sustainability
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and support staff
- Foster a respectful, collaborative, and culturally safe workplace
- Support employee development and performance management
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning
Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in Indigenous, child and family, health, or community services
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous approaches to wellness and community development
- Experience managing programs, budgets, staff, and partnerships
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Current and acceptable criminal record check Current and clear Child Abuse Registry Check
- Current First Aid, CPR & NVCI (or willing to attain as required)
- Valid Class G Driver’s license and acceptable driving record and insurance
- Ability to work flexible hours when required
- Preference may be given to qualified First Nations applicants
