The Cultural Resource Coordinator (CRC) plays a vital role in Walking Together – Ontario’s Long-Term Strategy to End Violence Against Indigenous Women. The CRC program provides cultural and traditional supports to Indigenous children, youth, and families, fostering healing, resilience, and connection to Indigenous ways of life.
Duties:
- Collaborate with other Ne-Chee Friendship Centre programs to support their clients
- Develop and maintain a cultural programming schedule aligned with NFC program activities
- Integrate cultural practices into daily activities, including smudging and caring for cultural items
- Design and facilitate programs and workshops that promote positive outlooks and traditional ways of life
- Be open to learning new skills, approaches, and cultural practices to continually enhance programming
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture and history with an emphasis on family violence, child welfare, trauma, youth engagement, and community outreach
- Experience facilitating groups and workshops; willingness to learn is essential
- Program planning, development, implementation, data collection, and evaluation skills; willingness to grow in these areas is encouraged
- Familiarity with the Friendship Centre and its programs
- Ability to speak Ojibway, Cree, or Oji-Cree is an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, etc.)
- Valid driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification
- Vulnerable Persons Check (required upon offer of employment)
BENEFITS
- Earn up to 9.37 hours of Paid Personal Leave per month (equivalent to up to 15 days annually, dependent on hire date)
- Earn up to 9.37 hours of Paid Vacation per month to start (equivalent to up to 3 weeks annually, dependent on hire date)
- Approximately two weeks of paid time off during the December break, upon successful completion of the probationary period
