Hours of Work: Full-Time, Permanent – Monday to Friday, 8:30-4:30 p.m. Occasional out of town travel is required
Wage: Salary of $59,736.81–$71,335.70 per year, commensurate with qualifications and
experience, CAAT pension plan, comprehensive co-funded health and dental benefits, alternating Fridays off after the probationary period, and generous vacation including additional paid time off around the December holidays.
Duties:
- Provide front-line reception and intake services, including greeting clients, answering and directing telephone calls, scheduling appointments and responding to inquiries;
- Conduct initial client assessments and provide summary legal information and advice within the Clinic’s mandate;
- Provide brief client services, including document review, assistance with forms and drafting of straightforward correspondence;
- Refer clients to Clinic staff, legal services, government programs and community agencies where more in-depth assistance or other services are required;
- Maintain client files, intake records and statistical information in accordance with Clinic procedures;
- Provide a welcoming and professional first point of contact for clients and members of the public.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must:
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with low-income and marginalized clients;
- Demonstrate a commitment to social justice and an understanding of the issues affecting people living in poverty;
- Be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment and manage competing priorities and frequent interruptions;
- Have strong organizational and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office;
- Be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive client information appropriately;
- Be available to work in person at the Kenora office and travel occasionally as required.
- Previous experience in a legal, social services, community agency, reception, intake or client-service environment would be an asset.
