As a Leadership Development Program Coordinator (Seasonal), you will mentor and empower young adults through structured leadership training and experiential learning. As part of our Specialized Programming team, you will design and facilitate leadership workshops, supervise participants, and lead wilderness experiences that build resilience, teamwork, and confidence. This role plays a critical part in preparing the next generation of camp leaders while upholding the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg’s core values.

HOW you’ll create Moments that Matter:

You will design and deliver engaging leadership programming that aligns with camp schedules, policies, and best practices in youth development. You will supervise and mentor LDP participants throughout workshops, training sessions, and practical placements, ensuring a meaningful and impactful experience. You will lead participants on a Wilderness Canoe Trip, using experiential outdoor education to reinforce leadership skills, resilience, and teamwork. Additionally, you will contribute to staff training, support camp-wide programming such as the Clubs Program, maintain accurate documentation and incident reports, and prepare an end-of-season report outlining participant growth and program recommendations.

 

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in leadership development, youth mentorship, or facilitation, ideally in outdoor or camp settings
  • Wilderness expedition and canoe tripping experience, with strong outdoor risk management skills
  • Proven ability to design and facilitate workshops or experiential learning sessions
  • Strong mentorship and communication skills, with the ability to inspire confidence and teamwork in young adults
  • Program planning and evaluation skills, with attention to documentation and continuous improvement
  • Physical readiness and adaptability to work in remote outdoor settings with varying weather conditions
  • Commitment to completing the Y Winnipeg Camp Stephens Training Pathway (paid training provided if certifications are not yet obtained)
  • Required Certifications: Bronze Cross, Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C
