Hours of Work: Full-Time, this role is a mix of office work, and site work. Regular hours are weekdays, 8am to 5pm (EST). Due to the nature of the role, it is sometimes common to work longer hours and/or weekends during the busy times in the spring and fall.

About the Role:

The Marine Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting day-to-day marine operations including installation, servicing, logistics, and technical system layout. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role integrates operations, field execution, and customer-facing support within the Kenora region.

This role is designed as a long-term investment in both the business and the right person stepping into it. The successful candidate will gain hands-on exposure to the full scope of the business, including dock system installation, yard management, customer interaction, and sales. Over time, they will build a comprehensive, end-to-end understanding of the operation, positioning them for increased responsibility and playing a key role in the company’s long-term growth and succession planning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Installation & Technical Execution

  • Assist in installation, removal, and servicing of dock-on-post and aluminum-framed dock systems.
  • Support layout and assembly of composite floating dock systems, including EZ Dock.
  • Take measurements and assist with residential and commercial dock system design and configuration.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.

 

Customer & Sales Support

  • Interact professionally with customers, contractors, and dealers.
  • Participate in site visits, provide layout feedback, and support sales opportunities.
  • Identify sales opportunities for additional products or services.
  • Maintain strong customer service to meet or exceed expectations.

 

Operations & Resource Coordination

  • Support execution of projects, including staging materials and operating handling equipment (telehandlers, forklifts).
  • Load, stage, and pack materials for project and dealer fulfillment.
  • Keep workspaces safe, clean, and organized, and optimize yard and warehouse operations.

 

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Development

  • Learn product lines and system configurations.
  • Support process improvements and documentation of best practices.
  • Develop a broad understanding of operations, sales support, and project coordination to support long-term operational growth.

 

Core Competencies:

  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong hands-on technical ability with a solid understanding of how systems function and integrate. Comfortable working with tools, equipment, aluminum assemblies, anchoring systems, and modular dock components. Able to interpret layouts and manufacturer guidelines in the field.
  • Initiative: Proactively identifies and addresses issues while working independently. Takes ownership of responsibilities, anticipates needs, and maintains momentum during peak installation seasons.
  • Problem Solving & Analysis: Assesses site conditions and project constraints to make practical decisions. Troubleshoots installation, equipment, and logistical challenges using sound judgment.
  • Organization & Planning: Maintains organized workspaces across yard, warehouse, trucks, and job sites. Plans tasks to ensure materials and equipment are ready. Detail-oriented and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Communication Skills: Communicates clearly and professionally with customers, contractors, and internal teams. Listens actively and provides feedback to support execution.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration: Works collaboratively with field, warehouse, and sales teams. Contributes to a positive, team-oriented environment.
  • Time Management: Manages multiple tasks, prioritizes effectively, and meets deadlines, especially during peak seasons.
  • Customer Service Focus: Committed to meeting customer expectations through professionalism, responsiveness, and quality workmanship.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience and certification in the operation of required material handling equipment
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and a positive drivers abstract
  • Demonstrated project management skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Background in construction, marine, mechanical, or a related industry
  • Experience in sales and/or customer service
  • Experience with MS Office Suite
