Wage: $18.00 per/hr

The Ne-Chee Friendship Centre is seeking a Peer Support Worker with lived experience to support the delivery of the Indigenous Mental Health & Addiction Support Program (IMHAP). This program provides culturally relevant, front-line mental health and addiction supports for Indigenous clients involved in the justice system, with a focus on supporting vulnerable women.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside the Counsellor to deliver weekly group programming sessions and provide compassionate crisis support
  • Help create a safe, welcoming space where participants feel comfortable learning and sharing
  • Support participants in overcoming barriers to attending and engaging in programming
  • Assist in the development of wellness, safety and harm reduction plans with participants
  • Prepare and organize workshop materials and supplies to ensure smooth program delivery
  • Assist with basic documentation and administrative tasks

Qualifications:

  • Must have lived experience related to mental health and/or addictions, and comfortable sharing in a supportive
  • environment
  • Strong teamwork skills; respectful, reliable and able to build genuine connections with others
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (required upon offer of employment)
  • A Driver’s licence and access to a vehicle considered an asset
