Duties:

Pioneer Construction is seeking hardworking and dependable individuals to join our Asphalt Paving Crew as Equipment Operators, based in the Kenora, Ontario area. Our paving teams play a critical role in building and maintaining the roads and infrastructure that connect Northern Ontario communities.

  • Operate paving and construction equipment, including pavers, rollers, material transfer vehicles, screening plants, and related machinery, as assigned and qualified
  • Safely operate, inspect, and care for tools, equipment, and machinery used in daily operations
  • Load, unload, and transfer construction materials using appropriate equipment and methods
  • Follow all company, client, and regulatory health and safety policies, procedures, and standards
  • Wear and maintain required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Adhere to established safety and emergency procedures and report hazards or incidents promptly
  • Accurately complete daily logs, timesheets, and work orders as required
  • Perform physically demanding work including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, crouching, climbing, crawling, repetitive reaching, and extended periods of standing throughout the workday
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment and equipment
  • Work in various weather conditions including inclement weather conditions
  • Work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as required to meet operational and project demands
  • Travel to job sites across Northern Ontario, including occasional out-of-town assignments with overnight stays
  • Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Prior experience operating equipment in the construction industry
  • Valid G class Driver’s License
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork

 

Considered an Asset:

  • Secondary School diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to perform physically intensive and strenuous tasks

  • Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients

This position is governed by a collective agreement with Operating Engineers Local 793. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Benefits and other incentives are offered separately.
