Duties:

Rushing River Provincial Park is located just southeast of Kenora and is known for its dramatic rapids, glacier-carved rock, sandy beaches, and access to Eagle Dogtooth Lake. The river flows through the heart of the park, creating the scenic cascades and rocky channels that visitors come to explore.

As a Park Cleaner, you help keep these busy spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. You will work in different facilities throughout the park, including washrooms, rental units, comfort stations, and outdoor areas. This is an active, outdoors-focused job where your work directly supports the visitor experience. You will be part of a small, supportive team that works across several nearby parks and strives to create a welcoming environment for everyone.

You will:

  • clean and sanitize park washrooms, showers, outhouses, rental trailers, and other buildings
  • restock supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and cleaning products
  • sweep and clean outdoor areas around facilities, including walkways, decks, and entrances
  • pick up litter and keep building exteriors tidy
  • collect and dispose of garbage and recycling from buildings and outdoor bins
  • perform maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and recording when sewage tanks
  • are pumped out
  • report broken equipment or safety issues to a supervisor
  • track, restock, and safely handle cleaning products in line with Workplace Hazardous Materials
  • Information System (WHMIS) requirements
  • support other park staff and help train student employees during busy times

Qualifications:

Mandatory requirements:

  • The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid G license or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver’s license upon being hired.
  • You possess or have the ability to obtain a CPR and Emergency First Aid certificate.
  • You will be required to work shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as per the schedule.

Cleaning practices and safety

You:

  • understand basic cleaning methods for buildings and washrooms
  • can use cleaning products and tools safely, following WHMIS guidelines
  • know how to follow workplace health and safety procedures

Maintenance and facility upkeep

You can:

  • complete daily cleaning duties, including disinfecting surfaces, restocking supplies, and collecting garbage
  • perform maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs or noting when tanks are pumped out
  • use small hand tools (drills, hammers, paint equipment), cleaning equipment, and grounds maintenance tools (rakes, shovels, lawnmowers, weed whips, etc.)

Organizational and task management skills

You can:

  • follow a work schedule and finish tasks within expected timeframes
  • work independently with routine direction
  • keep simple records, such as supply levels or maintenance notes

 

Communication and service skills

You can:

  • communicate clearly with coworkers, supervisors, and visitors
  • report issues such as hazards or equipment problems
  • contribute to a positive team environment and support other staff and students when needed

 

Other job-related skills

You

  • can carry out cleaning tasks that may involve lifting supplies or garbage bags
  • are able to work indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions
  • have experience completing tasks across multiple locations or work areas
