We are currently seeking to hire a temporary, full-time Finance Assistant for the summer, located in Dryden, Ontario. Our employees enjoy a healthy work environment, development opportunities, and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.
Duties:
Reporting to the Finance Supervisor—Payables, the Finance Assistant provides support in maintaining and processing KDSB revenues, receivables, and receipts records; KDSB purchasing, payables and payment records and performing other related administrative tasks.
- Process financial records (payables and receivables) in compliance with financial policies and procedures and as authorized by the Finance Supervisor—Payables.
- Receive and process invoices within general financial ledger software and prepare payments for Finance Supervisor – Payables approval.
- Provide support in preparing and reconciling deposits (cash, non-cash, PAD, EFT) to receipts entered in various software. Report any variances to the Finance Receivables Coordinator.
- Import data extracts from external software programs into the general financial ledger as approved by the Finance Supervisor – Payables.
- Maintain finance-related records and files.
- Provide support to Accounts Payable Clerk as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A high level of ability to use computers and other information technology, including specialized software and administrative systems.
- Knowledge of filing systems associated with accounting functions.
- Ability to work both independently to complete assigned tasks and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ongoing commitment to the principles and practice of confidentiality.
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Enrolment in post-secondary studies, in Accounting, Office Administration, or a related field.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.
- Experience in utilizing computer programs involving data entry and word processing in addition to computerized accounting programs.
To be considered for this position, you must be between 18 and 30 years of age at the start of employment and be legally eligible to work in Canada by: being a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
