Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig provides wholistic, primary health care to Indigenous people in Kenora and surrounding First Nation communities through a range of options including prevention, assessment, diagnosis and treatment. Our client-centered, interprofessional teams include health professionals, educators and support workers representing both traditional Indigenous, and contemporary models of care and use medical and community development concepts.

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting: The Homelessness Addiction and Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub will offer a seamless continuum of care that integrates a culturally responsive care model and healing methods. This model is tailored to the needs of individuals who are experiencing homelessness, addiction and mental health designed to address the multifaceted needs of our communities, this approach ensures coordinated, compassionate, and evidence-based care as a way to support stability and long-term recovery. This position supports the Support Services Team of the organization and supports the office administration function. This position is challenged to respond to a variety of individual demands in a timely manner, within the constraints imposed by policy and procedure.
NOTE: Traditional practices involving burning sacred medicines including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar and other cultural protocols occur regularly within our work setting.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
- Post-secondary education with a health, administration or social services focus or 2 years of relevant work experience; one to two years’ experience working in a similar position;
- Advanced computer skills and experience operating in a network environment with a full range of Microsoft Office applications;
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication and problem solving skills;
- Ability to work both independently, and as a team member;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Highly organized, detail orientated and able to prioritize and produce high standard of work;
- Commitment to maintain confidentiality of information and to maintain research ethics;
- Deep understanding and experience of Indigenous culture, values, and perspectives as well as traditional and contemporary health care practices, and wholistic health and wellbeing; ability to speak and understand Anishinaabemowin a definite asset;
- Experience working in an Indigenous organization; understanding and/or willingness to learn of Indigenous culture and values;
- Proof of immunization in compliance with policy requirements is mandatory;
- Valid drivers’ license, own vehicle and willingness and ability to travel required;
- Criminal records check and current drivers’ abstract required;
- Commitment to ongoing training and professional development relevant to job requirements; and positive attitude and capacity to act as a healthy lifestyle role model.
