Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
The Prevention Support Workers play a vital role in the First Nation by supporting children, youth, and families of Washagamis Bay. The goal is to keep our children safe in our community with their families.
- Conduction Needs Assessments
- Developing support plans for families
- Collaborating with families, service providers and community partners
- Support the overall well-being of children, youth, and caregivers with prevention strategies and coping mechanisms
- Ensure that every child and family case receives the highest quality of service and the best interests are taken into consideration for the family
- Strong communication skills and cultural awareness
- Maintain confidentiality to ensure that the privacy of individuals and families remain protected
- Servces as a resource to the Senior Prevention Services Worker as required
- Organize workshops, group sessions and community outreach programs
- Provide ongoing support to the parents by assisting with a support system within the community, family friends and Elders.
- Collaborate with Elders, knowledge keepers and other community leaders to integrate cultural teachings into prevention programs.
- Promote community awareness regarding the services and resources available.
- Establish and continue to maintain positive relationships with internal and external resources with tribal councils and agencies.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of interactions and referrals
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess any of the following:
- A Social Service Worker Diploma is preferred, however candidates with equivalent or related qualifications will be considered.
- Experience working with First Nations children, youth & families
- Cultural sensitivity to the Anishinaabe Culture and Language is a must.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Possess a valid G Class driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
- Must be able to provide and maintain a clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
