Victim Services of Kenora & Area (VSKA) is a community-based non-profit that provides trauma-informed support to individuals and families affected by crime or tragedy in Northwestern Ontario. We’re hiring a part-time Victim Support Worker to work with our full-time team to provide intakes, referrals and deliver services. Applicants must demonstrate an understanding of privacy legislation and gender-based violence. This flexible role includes training with some remote work and occasional local travel.

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Communicate with clients via phone, text and email to develop service plans and deliver services.
  • Coordinate with community partners.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential case notes and service records in an electronic data system.
  • Deliver safety plans, safety devices or gift cards as needed.
  • Attend team meetings and training.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, culturally safe team environment.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Post-secondary education in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience supporting individuals impacted by trauma, violence or crisis situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of the justice system, victim services and community-based supports.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally safe practices.
  • Proficiency in using computers and electronic data systems for case documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening (required)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (may be required for deliveries or outreach)
