The Cultural Advisor will play a central role in guiding the Kigamikamin Program’s commitment to cultural respect, inclusivity, and spiritual relevance for all community members. This position requires someone who is grounded in Indigenous knowledge and protocols while also demonstrating openness to diverse belief systems. The Cultural Advisor will engage with individuals and groups from different faiths and spiritual backgrounds to understand their ceremonial, cultural, and wellness needs. In partnership with the Kigamikamin Events Coordinator, the Cultural Advisor will ensure that all Kigamikamin events are rooted in proper protocol and cultural sensitivity.
In addition to supporting events and programming within Iskatewizaagegan No. 39, the Cultural Advisor will collaborate with Coordinators in Northwest Angle No. 37 and Shoal Lake 40 to ensure a culturally appropriate and inclusive approach across all participating communities. The Cultural Advisor will also travel to these communities to build relationships, engage with residential and day school survivors, and gather input that will shape culturally grounded healing initiatives.

Wages: $25.00/hr. based on 35 hours bi-weekly
Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
- Community Engagement & Research: Engage with community members and visitors of all faiths and belief systems; Gather information about cultural, ceremonial, and or spiritual needs for event programming; Building trusting relationships that promote mutual respect and understanding.
- Cultural Guidance & Event Support: Communicate specific cultural requirements, protocols, and guidelines for each event to the Kigamikamin Events Coordinator;
- Develop cultural templates and checklists to assist the Events Coordinator in planning inclusive and respectful events; Facilitate or co-facilitate Kigamikamin events as needed; Serve as a liaison between knowledge keepers, Elders, and the event team.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain records of cultural protocols and templates for future reference; Report regularly to the Kigamikamin Program Coordinator on activities, engagement outcomes, and emerging community needs; Support the creation of a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally grounded Kigamikamin environment.
- Knowledge of the Indian Residential School information.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:

- Willingness to learn about and respect other spiritual traditions and practices.
- Experience engaging with diverse communities in a culturally safe and respectful way.
- Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including program staff, Elders, and youth.
- Knowledge of Iskatewizaagegan No. 39’s community values and priorities is an asset.
- Ability to prepare written protocols, event guidelines, and reports.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion
- Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends as needed
- Valid driver’s license and access to transportation
- Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (Upon Successful Applicant)
