Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent First Nation is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to serve as Executive Director. This leadership role holds the authority to oversee and guide the management of the First Nation, and ensure effective administration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background and extensive experience in the sector, supporting the daily operations and contributing to the long-term success of the Nation.

Wages: $130,000 - $160,000 salary

Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Lead and manage the overall operations and resources of the First Nation, monitor and review financial performance, including budgets and expenditures,
  • Exercise significant independent judgment and make major decisions,
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Chief and Council, employees, and external stakeholders,
  • Preserve the First Nations strategic direction, tone, culture and traditional values,
  • Foster a positive, ethical, and compliant workplace culture,
  • Monitor quality of work and service delivery of all Programs and Departments,
  • Ensure high quality-service delivery and monitor department effectiveness,
  • Support and guide Directors in goal achievement, project planning and employee performance management, and
  • Represent the First Nation externally, including negotiations, partnership development.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
  • Must be Bondable
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant leadership experience,
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior management role,
  • One or more Postgraduate degrees (non-negotiable) in a related field such as Business Management, Finance or Human Resources,
  • Be a collaborative and motivated individual who is a strong team player, able to work effectively with colleagues across departments to achieve shared goals.
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate teams, including setting priorities and delivering results,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with senior-level government and external partners,
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle,
  • Willingness to travel as required.
