Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
The Intake and Assessment Worker is a full-time permanent program position. The Intake and Assessment Worker is responsible for conducting intake and assessment services for all cases alleging child abuse and/or neglect. The Intake and Assessment Worker prioritizes cases where children are believed to need immediate protection.
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
- Master of Social Work Degree with experience in services for children and their families or a comparable human service program. However, a combination of skills, education and experience may be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act and Regulations, particularly in the application of Part X relating to Customary Care if the First Nations.
- Expert knowledge of the Child Protection Standards in Ontario including case management and documentation requirements.
- Expert knowledge of Customary Care and the philosophy of service development and delivery, the communities and family structure, as well as local First nation customs and traditions.
- Working knowledge of the administrative structure and operations of Kitapinoonjiiminaanik Family Services including the services delivery model, policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols.
- Strong commitment to helping Anishinaabe children and their families by providing services in ways that respect Anishinaabe culture and spiritual practises.
- Commitment to providing services in the Anishinaabe context of extended family and community involvement.
- Knowledge of traditional and contemporary healing practises.
- Experience working with Elders, Healers and Clinicians.
- Ability to take direction and work within the policies, procedures, and guidelines and well as the mission, philosophy, and core values of the Agency.
- Excellent assessment skills with proven ability to determine imminent danger to children and/or the risk of suture harm to children.
- Excellent investigative skills with proven ability to conduct thorough interviews and prepare comprehensive detailed case recordings, reports and case notes.
- Experience working with a computerized database.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and planning skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Possession of First Aid and CPR certificates an asset.
- Ability to flex daily work hours as determined by the Resource Manager.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and be willing to travel.
- Must provide a clear Criminal Record Check and Driver’s Abstract; and
- Ability to speak Ojibway is preferred and a definite asset.
