Duties of this LEAP Job Posting:
This position is to provide various prevention services to the community, children and families. SPSW is to ensure the well-being of the children and to reduce incidences of neglect and to support the families.
- Conduction Needs Assessments
- Developing support plans for families
- Collaborating with families, service providers and community partners
- Support the overall well-being of children, youth, and caregivers with prevention strategies and coping mechanisms
- Strong communication skills and cultural awareness
- Excellent planning, organization, problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Organize workshops, group sessions and community outreach programs
- Collaborate with Elders, knowledge keepers and other community leaders to integrate cultural teachings into prevention programs.
- Assists in the development of Service Protocols for the First Nation
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of interactions and referrals
Qualifications for this LEAP Job Posting:
In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess any of the following:
- Minimum 3 years experience in the management of services for children and their families. Other applicants with alternate experience will be considered.
- Experience working with First Nations children, youth & families
- Cultural sensitivity to the Anishinaabe Culture and Language is a must.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Possess a valid G Class driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
- Must be able to provide and maintain a clean Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
