Program Description:

Youth Job Connection (YJC) is a year-round program that assists youth between the ages of 15-29 who need assistance finding and keeping a job. This program provides participants with pre-employment training and work opportunities that will help them make positive educational and career choices. The program is structured by providing 60 hours of paid pre-employment training followed by a job placement in a field of their choice.

Pre-employment services are short-term workshops or activities, designed to help participants get ready for work. They focus on career decision-making, employability skills development or enhancement, and job search and maintenance.

Job placements are experiential learning opportunities that provide the participant with an opportunity to gauge whether the job is a good fit with their employment interests and goals. Placements also provide participating employers with an opportunity to gauge and evaluate a participant’s skills, readiness for employment, and fit with the business.
